DRAGONBALL Bandai Jumbo Cards

The Bandai Jumbo cards were first circulated in the fall of 1991 at the anime-fair.  Children on school break who went to see the new dragonball movie "Supa Saiyajin da Son Goku" (your a super saiyajin Son Goku) were given the chance to purchase as a souvenier a memorial jumbo card.  The front was a advertisement for the movie, and the back was a card checklist for the newest set of Carddassu cards (at the time the only carddassu set was the original).  About the same time at Carddassu Stations (a place in big department stores were you buy cardholder books and inserts to put your cards in) Bandai started to sell jumbo prism cards.  These were more like regular cards because they did not have card listings on the back, and were not promoting a movie on the front.

In 1992 a set of Jumbo cards was released as a special set (not seen in the perfect file book) only sold with the purchase of a particular System File Cardholder at Carddassu Stations.  My guess is the cards were a test pilot to see if there was a market for plain Jumbo cards (not prism, not special, just jumbo).  There was 12 of them called the "Memorial Carddassu Card Collection" the front was a picture from the original DragonBall series (not DBZ) and the back of card 1 was a checklist for carddassu series 1, card 2 checklist for series 2 and so on up to series 12.

In November of 1994 they stopped making Jumbo prisms for the carddassu stations and made a special jumbo carddassu machine to sell jumbos from.  Between November of 1994 and December of 1995 the released 7 sets (with 9 cards each, the exception being DB Jumbo part 5 with only 3 cards) for a total of 57 cards.  Two sets being called the Visual Selection part 1 and 2 (total 18 cards, 1-18) and the DB Jumbo carddassu series part 1-5 (total 39 cards, 1-39).  There was at least 1 follow up GT series made in 1996, but I have little info on these cards.
